Colored by Numbers

Before you take the plunge to purchase a new car, you may want to consider an important factor when it comes to safety - color.

A recent study by the University of Auckland in New Zealand found that silver cars are involved in far fewer crashes than cars of other colors. Why? Researchers suggest silver cars are

  • More visible on roadways
  • Less likely to be hit by other vehicles
If silver doesn't fit your taste, other colors at moderate risk for accidents include white, yellow, grey, red, and blue. Black, brown, and dark green vehicles were found to be in the greatest number of accidents.
